That is an interesting concept, but ya know what? That's something they should of done with the deflector/navigation dish long ago, like for some of those who made bunch of TOS versions of the Miranda and Apollo Class, you know it's hanging on a thin stick below the saucer section...I mean seriously? Take out the shields, slice that off with a disruptor beam / pulse or torpedo, and the ship is fucked. Without navigation and/deflectors protecting the Bridge...you're good as dead mate.

That there, protects it a lot LOT better. They should totally take more ship ideas off you, with permissions and such of course .
