Back in 2009 I started up sketches and even a early vector image for a Starship called the Spartan. At the time I was a little burned out with starship so I never completed it.
Well with the Design the Enterprise contest come renewed energy when it comes to starship design, so I decided I would finally finish the Spartan. So here she is.
She is a Imperial Heavy Cruiser built to take a pounding if she had to. Heavy armor and Plenty of Weapons. With the Spartan I gave her a bigger Impulse Deck for
Sublight warfare.

She is the first of her class and that class is called the Sparta class.

And Yes with the registry and name I did get the idea from Frank Miller’s 300.

Sorry it took a while to finish this design.

this ship has speed and power nailed, I can almost see the captain ordering, "forget the phasers, RAMMING SPEED!" and the helm officer thinking to himself, 'again?' as he accelerates toward the enemy ship.

That is one thing I liked about the Kelvin and JJ Enterprise the nacells looked cool.

I totally agree with you....at first I didn't like the Reboot-idea at all, but after watching the movie a second time and also reading the IDW-comics concerning it, I grew to like it and no I'm really waiting for ST XII and hope there will be more material soon. Maybe the four novels they announced will come out some day too and in the new universe everything seems possible. So we maybe end up with Kirk fighting the Borg Queen himself oder even (finally) Federation vs Empire.
